We have a 2kW 8 panel solar array (Panasonic HIT panels), mounted on a south-facing roof at approximately 35-40° angle from the horizontal, which was installed at the end of August 2013.
These are the results for July 2015 (in red) with last year's results (green), and distribution by average sunlight 1971-2010 (met office stats) in blue:
The panels have done 261kWh this month - down 33kWh on last year's results. That's equivalent to an average of about 1kWh less per day compared to last year. The depressingly high number of overcast days in July this year is the reason for the down-turn.
With 511.5 hours of daylight in July (sun up to sun down for all 31 days), the average kWh generated per hour of daylight this month was 0.51kW. July last year was 0.57kW.
With one month left to go, we need to generate 158kWh in August to match last year's annual total of 1929kWh. August last year generated 249kWh, so I'm optimistic that despite July's disappointing returns, 2014-2015 will still be up on the year compared to 2013-2014.
